Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Construction Estimator and Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Corrections Construction Unit, you will be responsible for providing cost estimates and project management services for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data for review and interpretation of professionally prepared plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Prepare highly detailed materials and labor takeoff, providing cost estimates of construction in multiple construction trades disciplines.
  • Assist in the preparation of project work scopes and material bid packages.
  • Conduct site visit reviews to ensure projects are progressing as planned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience performing commercial construction project estimation.
  • Strong familiarity with drafting standards and symbols.
  • Skills in preparation of specification materials requisitions.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other construction-related higher education courses.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following: VCCO, CPE, CCM, Official Land Disturber Certification.
  • Significant knowledge of commercial building construction methodologies, techniques, materials, environmental, and project management principles in multiple construction trades disciplines/specialties.
  • Knowledge of Construction Specification Institutes, (CSI) Master Format Divisions.
  • Knowledge of the contents of the adopted Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code as it relates to commercial construction.
