Position Overview

This role is designated for a Law Enforcement Officer within the Veterans Health Administration. The selected candidate will be responsible for executing a comprehensive array of law enforcement duties, adhering to established regulations and protocols concerning law enforcement, personal safety, and security operations. Eligibility Criteria

Key Responsibilities

This is an ongoing recruitment effort. Qualified candidates will be evaluated and referred as positions become available.

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Safeguarding the civil liberties of individuals on VA-managed properties;
  • Detecting, preventing, and investigating criminal activities;
  • Conducting patrols in assigned sectors, either on foot or via vehicle;
  • Intervening in situations where individuals pose a threat to themselves or others;
  • Adhering to established protocols for evidence collection and contraband searches;
  • Securing search and arrest warrants;
  • Executing arrests of law violators;
  • Providing initial first aid and CPR until emergency medical services arrive;
  • Documenting incidents and activities during shifts;
  • Managing traffic control duties;
  • Assisting individuals in crisis situations;
  • Performing additional related tasks as assigned.
Work Environment

This position is not remote and requires a flexible work schedule, including weekends and extended hours as necessary.

Requirements

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and are subject to a thorough background investigation. Drug testing may be mandated, and candidates must be prepared to undergo a medical examination.

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in federal service, demonstrating knowledge of law enforcement practices and regulations.

Physical and Medical Standards

This role demands significant physical exertion, including the ability to run, climb, and lift heavy objects. Candidates must meet specific medical criteria, including vision and hearing standards.
