SUMMARY: The Recreational Activities Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging activities, physical exercises, and games. Consideration of residents' physical and emotional limitations is essential when planning these activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill specific job responsibilities effectively. Adherence to established guidelines and protocols within designated time frames is crucial. Strong communication skills across various forms are also required. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education and Experience: Candidates should possess the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly, as well as follow both written and verbal instructions.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Successful completion and current status in all training requirements as mandated by relevant regulations are necessary.

Other Skills and Abilities: A deep understanding of the needs of the elderly is essential. The ability to recognize unusual behaviors or physical conditions in residents and report these observations to the appropriate supervisor is required. Familiarity with all facility policies and procedures is necessary. Candidates must also be capable of managing stress effectively, handling multiple priorities, making decisions under pressure, and demonstrating strong organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position involves moderate physical demands, including frequent walking, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling during work activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the role, though additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor:

  • Developing daily and weekly activity plans for residents, considering any physical or emotional limitations.
  • Submitting requests for materials related to activities to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Maintaining proper hygiene and adhering to infection control practices.
  • Reporting any resident behavior or physical concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Completing Resident Observation Reports accurately and promptly, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Assisting residents with shopping as needed.
  • Supporting dietary staff during meal times, including serving meals and clearing tables.
  • Being mindful of dietary restrictions when serving food to residents.
  • Providing assistance whenever required, as duties permit.
  • Reviewing the Communication Log daily to stay informed about previous shift events.
