Job Title: Academic Access Specialist

At the College of St. Scholastica, Inc., we are seeking an Academic Access Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating alternative testing accommodations for The Center for Equal Access Testing Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with faculty to arrange exam delivery and return while maintaining security.
  • Support students during testing sessions.
  • Manage the physical testing center and testing room in Accommodate.
  • Document procedures and maintain exam security protocols.
  • Collaborate with the department's student employee coordinator to ensure smooth proctoring coverage.
Accommodations and Support:
  • Source and produce books in alternative formats.
  • Facilitate accommodations of auxiliary aids and adaptive technology.
  • Coordinate contracted services for accommodations, including American Sign Language Interpreters, CART Services, Descriptive Services, and Sighted Guides.
  • Ensure compliant execution of accommodations.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the college to advocate for students with disabilities.
  • Stay current on new research, technology, and developments in disability services.
Universal Design and Technical Accessibility:
  • Audit classes for accessibility and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for faculty questions about technical accessibility.
  • Coordinate captioning of videos.
  • Provide training to faculty on universal design and accessible documents.
Academic Support and At-Risk Students:
  • Coordinate academic learning software and online tutoring services.
  • Analyze Academic Progress Reports and identify students of concern.
  • Serve as an academic coach and provide direct support to students.
  • Lead programming for students with persistence risk and conditionally admitted students.
  • Integrate systems and analyze student data to alert the group to at-risk students.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, special education, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
  • One to three years of professional experience working with people with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three to five years of experience serving students with disabilities or related populations in higher education.
  • Case management experience.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technologies and best practices.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Commitment to The Social Model of Disability.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
  • Working knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act 1990; Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008; The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Section 504, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

This is a full-time position that requires occasional weekends and evenings. The successful candidate will be required to upload a cover letter expressing interest in the role and past relevant experiences.
