Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team at Harvard University. The successful candidate will work on developing a metalens optical system for imaging bacteria, with a focus on integration with small-pixel sensors, manual focus systems, and image capture and transfer systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a metalens optical system for imaging bacteria
  • Collaborate with a team at Harvard Medical School to leverage the optical system for bacterial detection, identification, and antibiotic susceptibility testing
  • Develop advanced metalens imaging modalities for bacteria, including compact form quantitative phase microscopy and full-Stokes image polarimetry
  • Work with a team to integrate the optical system with microfluidic systems
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in optics, applied physics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in laboratory optics and photonics, with emphasis on imaging systems such as microscopy
  • Previous experience in nanophotonics and clean room fabrication is beneficial
  • History of work in polarization and optical polarimetry is desirable
