Job Description

The Crisis Intervention Counselor at Cameron County provides critical support to residents in crisis situations. This role requires a unique blend of interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and crisis management expertise.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $32,400 based on 20 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of residents, including daily activities and one-to-one supervision as needed.
  • Implement available treatment plans, corrective disciplinary strategies, and effective treatment intervention programs.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment by monitoring security systems and maintaining order.
  • Transport residents to off-site locations as required.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in a related field, such as criminal justice or psychology.
  • A valid Texas driver's license and current automobile insurance.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English and knowledge of Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to submit to a drug urinalysis pre-screening exam and pass a criminal background check.

Working Conditions

  • Work a rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Subject to stressful environments and resident contact for extended periods.
  • May be required to run to the requested location during emergency situations.
