Position Overview:

Under the guidance of supervisory staff, the role involves engaging in a variety of tasks while delivering exceptional customer service within a recreational and natural resource park environment. This position includes interpreting the area's natural features and ensuring the safety of the public by upholding park regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Visitor Interaction & Educational Programming:
    • Welcoming and assisting park visitors.
    • Providing accurate information in response to inquiries, directions, and concerns.
    • Leading interpretive programs and guided nature walks.
  • Financial Transactions:
    • Handling cash transactions at the visitor center and gift shop, ensuring accurate fee collection for park entry and merchandise.
    • Maintaining records of all financial transactions.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Promoting visitor safety, enforcing park rules, and safeguarding park resources.
    • Utilizing communication devices for coordination and reporting.
    • Collaborating with local authorities and completing incident reports as necessary.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Conducting routine cleaning and maintenance of park facilities.
    • Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms and visitor areas.
    • Performing litter removal and trail upkeep.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Assisting in the training of junior staff as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Candidates should possess knowledge of outdoor recreation management, customer service principles, park regulations, and emergency response protocols. Skills in effective communication, public speaking, and customer relations are essential. The ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and to interact positively with a diverse range of visitors is crucial.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in customer service or a relevant educational background in Park Management, Forestry, or Natural Resource Management. A combination of education and experience that meets the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may also be considered.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must hold a valid Arizona Driver's license appropriate for the position. Some roles may require certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
