Position Overview:

Under guidance, the individual will engage in a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing visitor experiences within a recreational and natural resource park. This role involves interpreting the area's natural attributes and ensuring the safety of the public by upholding park regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Visitor Interaction & Program Facilitation:
    • Welcomes and assists park visitors.
    • Provides informative responses to inquiries, directions, and concerns.
    • Conducts educational programs and may lead guided nature walks.
    • Ensures that boat-in sites are well-maintained.
  • Financial Transactions:
    • Handles cashier responsibilities at the visitor center and manages park admission and merchandise sales.
    • Collects and reconciles fees for park entry and retail purchases.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Promotes visitor safety, enforces park regulations, and safeguards park resources.
    • Utilizes communication devices for effective coordination.
    • Collaborates with local authorities and law enforcement as needed.
    • Completes incident reports as required.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Performs general cleaning and upkeep of facilities.
    • Maintains cleanliness in visitor centers and restrooms.
    • Conducts regular inspections and maintenance of park facilities, including litter removal and trail upkeep.
    • May assist in training subordinate staff.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation, park management, and customer service principles.
  • Skills in effective communication, public speaking, and conflict resolution.
  • The ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and collaborate with team members.

Education and Experience:

One year of customer service experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must hold a valid Arizona Driver's license. Some roles may require Emergency Medical Technician certification.

Benefits:

This is a temporary position without benefits.

Retirement:

Eligible for Arizona State Retirement System pension after 27 weeks of employment.
