We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Five Star Quality Care, Inc. in Wilson, NC.

About the Role:

The Certified Medication Aide will be responsible for administering daily medications to our residents, monitoring their condition, and documenting any changes. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of resident care procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Deliver routine daily medications to residents">
  • Record medication dosages and times">
  • Observe residents and document changes in their condition">
  • Gather samples for analysis">
  • Evaluate equipment regularly and ensure it is cleaned">
  • Maintain health and safety standards">
  • Familiarize yourself with federal, state, and agency regulations to protect your own health and that of others">
  • Collaborate with different nurses to assist with resident care and medications">
  • Adhere to written or verbal instructions on managing medications">
  • Respond to resident emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify residents' needs">
  • Protect confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare">
  • Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently">
  • Responsibilities include customer service, caregiving, and communicating effectively with residents">

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • ">
  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A STATE APPROVED MEDICATION AIDE COURSE AND BE APPROVED TO ASSIST WITH OR ADMINISTER ORAL AND EXTERNAL MEDICATIONS PER STATE REGULATIONS">
  • Demonstrate competency to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations">
  • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT PREFERRED, THOUGH MANDATORY IN CERTAIN STATES">
  • MINIMUM OF 18 YEARS OLD, OR THE AGE REQUIRED BY STATE REGULATIONS, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER">
  • WORKING EXPERIENCE ALONE, ON A TEAM, AND ON PROJECTS START TO FINISH">
  • STRONG EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND LISTENING SKILLS">
  • DEDICATION TO THE MEDICAL FIELD, ESPECIALLY TOWARDS WORKING WITH RESIDENTS">
  • PASS STATE AND COMPANY BACKGROUND CHECKS AND DRUG TEST">
  • TAKING VITAL SIGNS">
  • ASSISTING RESIDENTS WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADLs)">
  • MEDICATION SUPERVISION (WITHIN THE SCOPE OF STATE REGULATIONS)">
  • READ, WRITE, SPEAK, AND UNDERSTAND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE">
