Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Perinatal Patient Safety Specialist to join our team at CommonSpirit. As a key member of our Perinatal Services department, you will play a critical role in promoting safe care for mothers and babies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocate for Patient Safety: Ensure all care providers on Maternal Child Health adhere to national clinical standards and principles of safety.
  • Lead Quality Initiatives: Implement and support patient safety and quality of care initiatives, monitoring clinical outcomes and abstracting, recording, analyzing, and reporting Perinatal Safety data.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Coordinate and evaluate briefing, debriefing, and analysis of selected charts with healthcare team members, contributing to Fetal Monitor (EFM) strip reviews and providing staff with feedback on findings.
  • Facilitate Interdisciplinary Communication: Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and education, encouraging staff to identify and report adverse events and near-misses.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required, Master's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women's Services, with a minimum of 2 years of project experience in Women and Infants Perinatal Safety.
  • Certifications: Registered Nurse with current California license required, Certification in one of the following: CCRN-NEO, C-EFM, RN-BC MCN, RN-BC-PERI, RNC [OB, GYN, NEONATAL], RNC-LRN, RNC-MNN, RNC-NIC, RNC-OB.
  • Skills: Knowledge and experience working within a Patient Safety Organization required, Current BLS from the American Heart Association Required, NRP within 90 days.
