Position Overview:
The Personnel Security Specialist plays a crucial role in managing security operations to support the organization's facility and mission.
This role involves providing comprehensive personnel security services for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily logs for various administrative tasks related to personnel security.
- Manage an extensive database of customer points of contact.
- Perform data entry into the Joint Access Database, ensuring accurate tracking of all customer-sponsored positions and quotas.
- Assist in the upkeep of personnel security files for all staff within the supported unit.
- Develop and manage tracking spreadsheets/databases for security activities.
- Adhere to and enforce the organization's Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support security awareness and educational initiatives.
- Provide administrative support as directed by site leadership or the Government Security Representative.
- Monitor and track security clearance processing activities in collaboration with government personnel to facilitate clearance actions.
- Prepare, process, and review Program Access Requests (PARs) for accuracy and eligibility.
- Conduct reviews of candidates for SAP access using Defense Central Index of Investigations (DCII), Joint Personnel Access System (JPAS), and SAPNP protocols.
Additional Duties:
- Execute data entry and record checks in the Joint Access Database (JADE), maintaining all access information for customer-sponsored personnel.
- Manage classified visit requests as required to fulfill organizational needs.
- Provide mentorship and quality assurance for team members involved in personnel security.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and Government Program Managers regarding access approval decisions.
Qualifications:
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 4 years in SCI or SAP roles, with at least 2 years specifically in SAP-related functions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
- Familiarity with security policies, manuals, and relevant ICDs/JAFANs/DOD Manuals.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively engage with DOD, military, civilian personnel, and industry partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Demonstrated originality, creativity, and initiative with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel within the organizational Area of Responsibility (AOR), which may include extensive air and ground transportation.
- Completion of Joint Access Database Environment (JADE) training is required.
- Completion of DoD SAPCO approved SAPNP training is necessary.
Clearance Requirements:
- Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
- Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
- Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.
