Role Overview:
The EOC College Transition Coach is essential in delivering extensive support services to participants, focusing on improving secondary school diploma completion, increasing financial aid applications, and enhancing postsecondary college admissions and enrollment for local residents. Key responsibilities include assisting participants with application processes, performing eligibility evaluations, providing tailored academic guidance, and developing Individual Educational Plans.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support potential participants in filling out intake forms to evaluate needs and establish program eligibility.
- Conduct interviews and assessments to identify individual student characteristics and requirements.
- Develop customized Individual Educational Plans to direct students towards enrollment in postsecondary programs.
- Offer advice on educational alternatives, including GED preparation and alternative education options.
- Provide comprehensive case management and academic coaching to participants.
- Collaborate with various student support services to meet participant needs effectively.
- Facilitate workshops on essential skills such as study techniques, time management, and college readiness.
- Advocate for diverse student populations, offering specialized support as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of experience or equivalent qualifications is required.
Preferred Qualifications: A degree in social work or higher education is preferred. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous. Experience in student support services or higher education environments is beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A solid understanding of GED preparation, college admissions, financial aid processes, and career counseling is essential. Proficiency in software applications, databases, and data reporting systems is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively, are crucial. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills are necessary.
