Job Summary

The University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outreach Specialist to join our Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for recruiting and supporting veteran participants in their academic endeavors.

This is a grant-funded position that requires a strong understanding of the veteran and military-connected community. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with diverse populations and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and counsel veteran participants regarding academic endeavors
  • Act as a resource person for academic information and decision-making strategies
  • Drive 15-passenger van to transport participants to program events
  • Meet with participants on a regular basis to track their progress
  • Collect, organize, and enter data to address issues relating to persistence

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or 90 college credit hours in counseling, education, or related field
  • Minimum two years of experience in a higher education setting
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Military Veteran or Military-Connected
  • Previous work experience related to serving veterans and TRIO programs
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
