Job Summary:

As a Grants Compliance Administrator at the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, you will oversee the full cycle grant process for all departments, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and regulations. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the executive team and fiscal staff to determine funding needs and identify potential funding sources.
  • Develop and review grant applications, including budgets and budget narratives.
  • Communicate with department managers to review financial and programmatic terms and conditions.
  • Provide advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures.
  • Identify and evaluate grant opportunities from state, federal, local, and private resources.
  • Prepare grant applications, assist with implementation, and administer grants and grant reporting.
  • Oversee the full cycle grant process, including development of timelines and tracking progress.
  • Maintain grant application files and track grant application activities.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in business or public administration or post-high school training/certification.
  • Minimum three years' experience in public or private sector, with a focus on contract or grants management/administration.
  • Knowledge of grant writing principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with foundations, corporations, public, private, and governmental entities that offer grant opportunities.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and develop project budgets.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Environment:
  • Typical office conditions, with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours for emergency situations or special events.
  • Frequent contact with other departments and the public, with communication in person, by telephone, and via direct message.
  • Access to confidential information, requiring discretion and professional office protocols.
