Solar Installation Project Manager Job Description

Job Overview:

SEL Construction Corporation seeks a highly skilled Solar Installation Project Manager to oversee the planning, direction, and coordination of daily activities related to solar installation and maintenance of assigned projects. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Operations Director and be responsible for the oversight and training of solar crews on each project.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately map out the placement of components based on provided diagrams and ensure the system is effectively sealed against weather conditions, following safety codes and manufacturer specifications.
  2. Ensure all insurance certificates and relevant workers' compensation statutes are in place prior to the commencement of work.
  3. Conduct thorough testing and ground measurement post-installation and make any necessary adjustments to ensure proper functionality.
  4. Interpret specifications and company policies to subordinates and/or contractors and enforce safety regulations.
  5. Collaborate with Project Managers on site inspections, permitting, and establishing per-site budgets.
  6. Ensure proper panel positioning and alignment for optimal energy production.
  7. Responsible for accurate labeling, installing, and terminating electrical wiring and/or connections.
  8. Maintain open and effective communication with subordinate supervisory personnel regarding all activities within each job while ensuring occupational health and safety of all SEL Construction employees, subcontractors, project teams, clients, guests, and assets in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, departmental, and company policies, as well as industry standards and practices.

Requirements:

  • 1 or more years of experience as a commercial solar crew lead required.
  • 5 total years working in the commercial solar industry required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
  • The ability to demonstrate exemplary work ethics.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver License and clean driving record.

Travel Requirements:

This position will require frequent, mandatory short and long-distance travel. The ability to travel is mandatory.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following: verbally speak and/or listen, stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb, and bend and lift and move up to 50lbs frequently and daily, use repetitive hand to finger movements, handle and/or feel tools, equipment, etc.
