Job Title: Chief Economist and Policy Strategist at Washington Center for Equitable Growth

We are seeking a Chief Economist and Policy Strategist who can apply academic evidence to policy debates. The successful candidate will be responsible for speaking broadly about organizational issue areas and staying aware of economic policy discussions in the public sphere. They may also be deployed to speak to the media, government officials, and advocacy organizations on behalf of the president and CEO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Spokesperson: Provide an organizational voice to address issues or when interviews cover multiple policy topics.
  • Content development: Support strategic content discussions and contribute to Equitable Growth's annual competitive grant program and commissioned research.
  • Fundraising: Participate in funder conversations where a chief economist perspective would be valuable.
  • Content review: Review and provide feedback on content developed by other policy leaders within the organization.

Requirements:
  • An advanced degree in economics or a related field; a Ph.D. is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A wide breadth of knowledge about economic issues, with a special preference for macroeconomics expertise.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Media relations awareness.
  • A network in the economic policy community is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to provide nuanced analysis quickly on advanced economic topics.

Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. The salary range reflects our commitment to compensating our staff fairly and competitively.
