Job Description:

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the Operating Room, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients undergoing cardiovascular transplant surgery. This position requires a strong background in scrub experience, with a focus on cardiovascular and transplant procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the Operating Room for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist the surgeon during surgery, providing support and maintaining a safe environment for the patient.
  • Care for the patient during surgery, monitoring their vital signs and responding to any changes.
  • Care for the instruments and supplies used in surgery, ensuring they are properly cleaned and maintained.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • Strong background in cardiovascular and transplant procedures, including heart and lung transplant experience.
  • Experience in an Academic Level - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
  • Prior traveler experience highly preferred.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Successfully completed a surgical technologist program or two years experience in Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completion of program.
  • Needs 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only from work performed in the last two years).
Work Environment:

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced Operating Room environment, with a focus on cardiovascular transplant surgery. The position requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Benefits:
  • 36 hour workweek, with 12 hour shifts.
  • Monday - Friday rotation, with no weekends.
  • Permit required through UW Transportation for parking.
