Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive gift planning strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit planned gifts from major donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure alignment and coordination of gift planning efforts.
  • Provide exceptional donor stewardship and recognition to ensure long-term relationships and increased giving.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in gift planning and philanthropy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community leaders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in philanthropy, nonprofit management, law, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in major gift or gift planning, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong knowledge of planned giving vehicles, including charitable gift annuities, trusts, and pooled income funds.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CFRE, CFP, CAP, or J.D. certification.
  • Experience working with the Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Delaware communities.
  • Knowledge of the American Red Cross corporate culture and values.
