About the Role:

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled Equipment Technician to join our team. As an Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dialysis equipment and maintaining a safe and clean environment for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on dialysis equipment, including cleaning and disinfecting machines and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct quality control checks on equipment and report any issues to the Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis treatments and report any untoward symptoms to the dialyzing nurse or Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with patient care tasks, such as obtaining vital signs and weighing patients.
  • Transport patients and equipment as needed.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and contribute to the development of new procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • One year acute-care inpatient hospital experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a hospital or hospital clinic environment, with frequent walking, standing, bending, turning, and stooping. The ability to lift and move equipment and supplies is also required.
