Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Hawai'i Island Community Health Center. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical providers and nurses in delivering high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and document patient health history and vital signs, including pulse, respirations, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
- Assist medical providers with physical examinations, minor surgeries, and other procedures as needed.
- Administer medications and vaccinations safely and effectively, monitoring patients for any adverse reactions.
- Collect and process lab specimens, ensuring accurate identification and labeling.
- Perform CLIA-waived tests, including urinalysis, blood glucose, and urine drug tests, and document results in patient charts.
- Provide patient education and resource information on health promotion, disease prevention, and family planning.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, including new patient visits, follow-up appointments, and specialty referrals.
- Document all patient care provided, including medication lists, laboratory results, and other relevant information.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduation from a technical school with a degree in medical assisting or a related field.
- 6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- BLS certification required.
This position requires working in a fast-paced clinical environment, with exposure to patients' conditions and potential contagious diseases. The incumbent will be scheduled to work various shifts, including rotating shifts, standby, and on-call duties.
