Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Internal Medicine department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care to our community. Under the guidance of our Internal Medicine physicians, you will ensure the optimal well-being, health, and safety of our patients, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the delegation of medical services as defined by the State Medical Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide exceptional customer service skills by greeting patients and the community with respect.
  2. Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming visits, verifying accurate and up-to-date diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and medical records.
  3. Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  4. Perform departmental-related clerical duties, such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed.
  5. Utilize problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
  6. Engage with fellow staff and patients in a professional manner.
  7. Deliver efficient and effective patient care and coordinate day-to-day clinical operations.
  8. Record patient interviews, histories, and chief complaints, preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  9. Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel.
  10. Inform physicians of patient-reported changes to aid in ongoing assessment and plan of care.
  11. Collect specimens, such as urine, blood, and sputum, for testing and perform routine laboratory tests on samples, including phlebotomy skills.
  12. Maintain supplies, equipment, and sterilization of instruments, disposing of waste appropriately.
  13. Ensure examination rooms are clean and stocked, removing dirty supplies and linens.
  14. Participate in the clinic and hospital Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  15. Attend 80% of organizational meetings and trainings.
  16. Perform other duties to support the Internal Medicine Team Lead and Director Business Office.
Requirements

We require a Graduate of an accredited vocational school of practical nursing, with current licensure in the state where the hospital is located as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. One year of recent experience in a primary care setting is preferred, with one year of clinical healthcare experience required. The ability to stand for long periods, lift patients and equipment up to 50 pounds, and operate therapeutic equipment and computers is necessary.

Working Conditions

As an LPN in our Internal Medicine department, you will be exposed to environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, and infectious medical waste. Protective clothing and equipment may be necessary. You will also be required to maintain immunizations and vaccinations, including Hepatitis B, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap), and Tuberculosis Screening.
