Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a retail store, ensuring that all areas of the business are running efficiently and effectively. The Store Operations Manager serves as the second-in-command to the Store Manager and is responsible for providing guidance and support to the Operations Team Members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform operational activities throughout the store, including freight management, recovery, and inventory control.
  • Assist the Store Manager in providing direction to the Operations Team Members and ensuring that all team members are trained on company policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for all team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Oversee the Receiver role, which includes responsibility for hiring, training, development, coaching, and implementing receiving standards.
  • Lead and execute all operations processes and SOPs, including stocking, truck unloading, store recovery, feed management, and merchandise activities.
  • Manage store perpetual accuracy, including correcting and adjusting inventory discrepancies, overseeing inventory adjustments, and processing POs in a timely manner.
  • Support the Store Manager in driving sales and profit, planning, prioritizing, and delegating daily tasks.
  • Lead by example and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls as needed.
  • Adhere to inside and outside security standards and manage shrink.
  • Supervise cash handling procedures and transport and make deposits to the bank.
  • Operate forklifts and balers, as well as cash registers and computers.
  • Assist customers with loading purchases and complete all documentation associated with job duties.
Requirements
  • Previous retail leadership experience is required.
  • Prior store operations experience and supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots are generally hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) with adequate lighting and temperature.
  • Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for team members and customers and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is non-sedentary.
  • It is essential that team members have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register).
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and to dispense propane (propane certification and dispensing requirement does not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification for various business needs.
