Position Overview

The primary role of the Anesthesia Technician II is to ensure that all anesthesia service areas are fully prepared for utilization by Anesthesiologists and Anesthetists. This includes maintaining readiness in all operating rooms within the main OR and Cysto, as well as other service areas such as OB, Radiology, MRI, and all pre-operative and PACU facilities.

The technician is responsible for managing anesthesia equipment and supplies as outlined in this job description, ensuring smooth workflow in anesthesia services, and reporting directly to the Manager of Anesthesia Support Services and the OR manager.

This position requires the ability to work autonomously and may involve acting as a mentor for new staff. Adherence to all relevant infection control, health, and safety policies and procedures established by the department and/or work unit is essential.

Compensation Information

To view the salary range for this position, please refer to the TCS Non-Academic Titles Search. It is important to note that the compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement can vary significantly; however, job offers typically fall within 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. The final offer will take into account the experience of the selected candidate as well as the current salary levels of individuals in similar roles.

For positions covered by a bargaining unit agreement, specific rules will dictate the placement of new hires within the salary range.

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills for quick and accurate calculations.
  • Familiarity with medical/surgical and anesthetic terminology.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Good vision and ability to read in low light; capable of distinguishing colors on anesthesia monitors.
  • Ability to perform efficiently under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills; able to convey information clearly and courteously.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small equipment; capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work at all UCSF Health locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician.
