Position Overview

The Anesthesia Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness of anesthesia service areas for use by anesthesiologists and anesthesia providers. This position is essential in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety within the clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Equipment Management**: Oversee the maintenance and functionality of anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring they are prepared for immediate use.
2. **Assistance in Procedures**: Collaborate with anesthesiologists in patient positioning, preparation of sterile environments, and the setup of invasive monitoring lines and anesthesia techniques.
3. **Training and Development**: Provide guidance and training to fellow technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
4. **Quality Control**: Conduct quality assurance checks on anesthesia equipment and perform laboratory tests, including blood gas analysis and coagulation times.
5. **Preventative Maintenance**: Execute routine maintenance and minor repairs on anesthesia devices to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar capacity.
- Recent exposure to various service lines, including Pain Management, Ophthalmology, and General Surgery.
- Certification in CPR from a recognized body.
- A high school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Strong manual dexterity and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Current certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).
- An associate degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Previous training in emergency medical services or related healthcare fields.
