Instrumentation Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Instrumentation Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and implementing flight instrumentation systems for our lunar transportation business unit.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and integrate flight instrumentation systems, collaborating with design engineers to understand and document their requirements and interfaces.
- Select, design, and test sensors for the fluids and propulsion integrated product team.
- Engage with instrumentation suppliers to develop and source flight sensors, fostering strategic relationships and ensuring timely delivery.
- Write specifications, verification plans, and system safety artifacts for flight sensors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Create mechanical and electrical drawings for sensor assemblies, ensuring accuracy and precision.
- Plan and execute sensor characterization, verification, and qualification test campaigns, ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability.
- Interact with internal and external partners to track instrumentation engineering development and ensure the release of installation drawings per schedule.
- B.S. degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other appropriate engineering or physics field.
- 5+ years of experience in design, test, and operation of transducers for the aerospace industry.
- Experience managing suppliers and projects from initial concept through production.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel up to 10% and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Knowledge of NADCAP processes (welding, soldering, brazing).
Competitive compensation range: $125,400.00-$175,560.00 (CO applicants), $136,800.00-$191,520.00 (WA applicants). Other site ranges may differ. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
Paid Time Off: up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
