Prevention Specialist

Community for New Direction is seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our prevention services team, you will play a vital role in providing drug and alcohol awareness to targeted populations in various settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement prevention activities that promote positive youth growth and development.
- Mentor and guide youth individually and in groups, utilizing a behavior management system to shape youth behavior.
- Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and other agencies to provide information and awareness on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
- Network with other prevention and social service agencies to provide comprehensive services, identify needs, and make referrals as necessary.
- Participate in alcohol, tobacco, or other drug awareness campaigns as needed.
- Participate in health fairs, business expos, parades, and other community events to provide anti-substance use messages.
- Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents, teachers, staff, or administrators in target area schools and community sites.
- Document all program activities and submit program reports and records according to established deadlines.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the agency's community resource list, video reference list, curriculum inventory, program materials inventory, and physical inventory.
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, attend professional development conferences, trainings, webinars/seminars to enhance knowledge and broaden horizons.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in the social/behavioral sciences or related field is preferred, or a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of professional experience in the social service field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Must possess an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OPCS) certification.
