Job SummaryThe Infection Preventionist will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to prevent and control infections within our medical center.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an infection prevention program that aligns with national standards and guidelines.
- Conduct surveillance and investigations to identify and address infection control issues.
- Design and deliver education programs to healthcare workers on infection prevention and control practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure changes are vetted by all stakeholder groups.
- Stay current on infection prevention and control regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of principles of epidemiology, infection control, infectious diseases, and microbiology.
- Experience in hospital infection control preferred.
- Certification as an infection control practitioner preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation skills.
- Gain certification in infection control within 3 years of hire if not already certified.
- Complete an APIC competency self-assessment annually.
- Complete a professional development plan annually.
- Seek constructive feedback from superiors, mentors, and colleagues regarding professional practice.
The Infection Preventionist will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
