Position Level Descriptions:

Level I – Capable of achieving many objectives of this role with some supervision to ensure tasks are completed correctly and communication is effective. Possesses a solid understanding of at least one system within this division and holds a basic NICET or equivalent industry certification.

Level II - Consistently meets all objectives of this role while providing mentorship and direct supervision to Level I personnel. Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple Special Systems deliverables and has obtained mid-level NICET or equivalent industry certifications.

Senior - Highly skilled in the position with advanced knowledge of system programming requirements. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of various systems installed and maintained within the division. Typically holds a high-level NICET or equivalent certification and is actively engaged in the industry. Provides mentorship and direct supervision on projects as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Special Systems database, graphics, programming, etc., based on sequences provided by the Design Specialist, project specifications, or other relevant sources.
  • Ensure precise controls of special systems start-up and commissioning, including point-to-point verification on assigned projects. Confirm correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators of Special Systems projects.
  • Assist installation teams on project sites.
  • Provide information and support to other contractors on-site.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up and commissioning of building special systems.
  • Support Climatec and other contractors in resolving building operational issues that extend beyond special systems operations.
  • Contribute insights as requested to aid in accurate estimation, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Prepare start-up documentation, including daily logs, check-out logs, commissioning documents, etc., as required for assigned projects.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Provide service support on existing installations to ensure systems comply with current building occupancy codes.
  • Support the proper and efficient operation of existing systems while offering ongoing assistance to facility building engineers.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Facilitate the transition of projects from the Operations Team to the Service Team.
  • Support the Sales team during the estimating phase, including potential product or system demonstrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of technical experience in Security & Fire Alarm Systems or Electronics-related studies, or equivalent technical experience such as military training or on-the-job training programs.
  • Basic understanding of computer operations.
  • Must possess NICET Certification.
  • Clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional technical certifications or coursework related to Security & Fire Alarm Systems, Electronics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with programming languages relevant to the role.
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting computer and networking issues.
  • Familiarity with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and electronic circuitry, including interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of AC power circuitry, including breakers and multi-phase power (120VAC and greater).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to understand and empathize with others' perspectives.
  • For Level 2 and Senior System Specialists: In-depth understanding of DDC or special systems that control buildings.
  • Awareness of Climatec culture and the industry culture, particularly for Level 2 and Senior System Specialists.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, materials, etc.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Willingness to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record that allows for driving on company business.
  • Physically able to kneel, stoop, and crawl.
