Job Title: Food Service Department Manager Trainee

Job Summary:

The Food Service Department Manager Trainee is responsible for assisting the Food Service Department Manager in setting department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. This role involves working alongside the department manager to fine-tune skills and expertise in the department, preparing the trainee to become a successful Food Service Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Food Service Department Manager in setting department standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Work alongside the department manager to develop skills and expertise in the department.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and evaluating department employees.
  • Determine weekly work schedules and establish daily work plans for the department.
  • Inspect signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise and order product for replenishment.
  • Figure retail pricing and ensure correct pricing.
  • Extend invoices, post invoices, and perform department bookkeeping procedures.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly sales and trends, compare to actuals, prepare ad projections, and write ads.
  • Conduct inventory of the department.
  • Plan displays, promotions, and determine pre-orders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Over six months to one year of similar or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform other physical demands of the job.
Working Conditions:

This position is exposed to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and possible electrical shock. This is a fast-paced work environment.

Cash register, slicer, C.A.R.S. system, fryers, ovens, steamer, computers, fax machine, telephone, copier, calculator, utensils, delivery van, Hobart machine, stoves, grills, toasters, chicken rotisserie, can opener, griddle, chargrill, refrigerated food case, hot case, cold case, thermometers, knives, dishwasher, ice machine, coffee maker, scales, and pop machine.

Financial Responsibility:

This role is responsible for company assets, including equipment and merchandise.
