Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Special Education Teacher to join our team in the Lexington area. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $93,600 - $112,400, based on a 37.5-hour workweek. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including:

Job Responsibilities

As a Lead Special Education Teacher, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Modifying and developing daily curriculum techniques to meet the needs of students with different learning modalities
  2. Developing approved lesson plans to meet the standards of the curriculum within the classroom and assisting in developing lesson plans for inclusion students
  3. Consistently communicating and corresponding with parents, administrators, school psychologists, and other professionals to set up and plan IEP and evaluation meetings
  4. Acting as an IEP facilitator and collaborator between special education and regular education teachers
  5. Gathering relative information from team members and writing, revising, or updating IEPs and existing data reports
  6. Completing report cards and progress reports on each student's progress
  7. Assisting other professional staff in identifying and implementing interventions for students identified in the Student Study Team process
  8. Maintaining appropriate student data to keep the school-wide grading system up-to-date as well as data required to monitor IEP goal progress
  9. Attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • At least one year of teaching experience with students with a variety of disabilities, including students with behavior disorders and other learning and cognitive delays
  • South Carolina Teaching Certification in the field of Special Education
