We are seeking a seasoned underwriting professional to join our Primary Casualty Underwriting team as a Vice President, Large Casualty Underwriter. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in underwriting complex risks and drive business growth for Sompo.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and underwrite risks for large-scale businesses across various industries, including financial institutions, professional services, manufacturing, life sciences, and technology.
- Assess information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status, and declinations to drive results and improve underwriting processes.
- Commit to our strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture, ensuring alignment with the business' risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize advanced pricing models across various structures, including guaranteed cost, captives, SIRs, and deductibles, to optimize underwriting outcomes.
- Monitor regional issues, regulations, and trends to support and drive business objectives, ensuring Sompo remains a leader in the industry.
- Minimum 10 years of experience underwriting and producing large-scale accounts with top brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers.
- Strong technical underwriting skills, with expertise in underwriting General Liability, Workers Compensation, and Auto.
- Ability to establish and expand relationships with regional and national brokers and agents, driving business growth and revenue.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and grow our business.
- Undergraduate degree or demonstrable industry experience.
