Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at George Mason University invites applications for one or more tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of scholarly research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, participate in university, college, and departmental governance, professional and public service, and perform related instructional assignments.
Responsibilities- Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Develop an independent, externally funded research program
- Advise students
- Participate in all aspects of the department's mission
- Serve the profession
Applicants must have received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the start date of the position. The successful candidate should have demonstrated potential for excellence and productivity in research, and a commitment to high-quality teaching.
Preferred QualificationsThe department is particularly interested in candidates in the areas of fluid mechanics and/or thermal sciences. Candidates who can build collaborations with other departments within the College and across the University will benefit from strong support and encouragement for interdisciplinary collaboration.
