Electrical Engineering Manager

LDV, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of custom specialty vehicles, headquartered in Burlington, Wisconsin. We design and build cutting-edge, 45-foot mobile command centers with advanced satellite communications, tactical vehicles, and other specialized vehicles.

This is a rare opportunity to join our team of experts in electrical engineering. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead our Electrical Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and managing the Electrical Engineering functions at LDV. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the department budget to plan for development and ongoing engineering functions.
  • Analyzing and controlling expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Recommending budget, expenditures, and appropriations for research and development work as it pertains to Engineering and Design.
  • Maintaining our information database/web interface and keeping it current with design, installation, and service instructions as the company expands.
  • Leading product research, development, and innovation based on customer needs and updates with new technologies.
  • Supporting the Sales Departments as new product designs are sold.
  • Supporting Sales-generated requests/designs.
  • Evaluating new equipment models in regard to techniques, strategies, and layout for production and service.
  • Evaluating and recommending ways to reduce/remove cost, weight, and production time from beginning to the final end product.
  • Acting as liaison between Engineering and other business units.
  • Providing technical engineering advice and counsel to Management, Marketing, Sales, and Operations.
  • Providing support for Service and customers for post-sale vehicle operation and maintenance.
  • Recommending methods to utilize technology in LDV daily operations.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Electrical Engineering Department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Knowledge of Design software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software. Experience with logic programming preferred.
  • Experience with vehicles and electronics/communications equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and have the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
