Pediatric Registered Behavior Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Registered Behavior Technician to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a key member of our Behavioral and Mental Health department, you will play a vital role in providing applied-behavior-analytic services to patients diagnosed with developmental disabilities, pediatric feeding disorders, or other behavioral diagnoses.

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Registered Behavior Technician will work under the direction of a professional behavior analyst to provide individualized services to patients. This includes conducting sessions using standard procedures, providing suggestions for procedures and methods, and assisting with intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct sessions with patients using standard procedures under the direction of a professional behavior analyst
  • Provide suggestions of possible procedures and methods to a professional behavior analyst
  • Assist professional behavior analyst in implementing intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge procedures
  • Prepare initial drafts of session materials, session descriptions, and progress notes
  • Enter assessment and treatment data into spreadsheets and graph the data
  • Report the behavior and environment in observable and measurable terms to a professional behavior analyst and provide goal updates
  • Perform initial analysis of findings and present recommendations to a professional behavior analyst
  • Assist in the creation of data-collection protocols and systems
  • Assist with the development of skill-acquisition programs and behavior-reduction programs
  • Assist in the training of caregivers
Requirements:
  • High-school degree/GED
  • American Heart Association BLS Provider
  • Completion of RBT Competency Assessment of the BACB prior to or within 1 month of start date
  • Must pass RBT exam within 3 months of start date
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with patients or individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, pediatric feeding disorders, or other behavioral diagnoses in an educational, instructional, or therapeutic setting
