Special Education Teacher

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you will provide quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12, and work under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator.
Key Responsibilities- Student Education Plans: Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and department team members.
- Learning Support: Support learning for students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
- Instructional Design: Design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum.
- Collaboration: Assist parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
- Classroom Preparation: Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- IEP Implementation: Serve as the coordinator of individualized education program (IEP) implementation with general education staff.
- Progress Monitoring:
- Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of student's IEP, as appropriate.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate student records.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support teaching assistants who provide support to students with disabilities.
- Transition Support: Support students in preparation for grade transitions and preparing for life skills.
- Assessment and Tracking: Assess students' skills and educational needs and track student's performance.
- Communication: Discuss students' progress with their other teachers.
- Relationship Building: Communicate to maintain positive relationships with students and their parents.
- Compliance: Follow School District policies and procedures.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred.
- Certification: Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations.
- Experience: Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred.
- Certification: State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred.
- Certification: State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred.
- Certification: State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred.
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
- Professional Standards: Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Training: Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Health and Safety: Current CPR if applicable.
- Health Certificate: TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language required.
- Computer Skills: Computer proficiency required.
