Director of Facilities Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Facilities to oversee the physical plant operations of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and Saint Michael Episcopal School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Assistant Director of Facilities, Sextons, Contractors, and Subcontractors to ensure compliance with city, state, and national codes, benchmarks, and best practices.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of automation systems, including HVAC, security, and life safety/fire protection systems.
- Develop, supervise, and implement emergency response and security protocols for property and life.
- Train the Facilities team in the installation, programming, safety, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate new contracts.
- Provide church leaders with relevant building operations and maintenance reporting for sound decision-making.
- Assure grounds are manicured and in good order at all times.
- Maintain the indoor and outdoor Columbariums.
- Act as a resource for staff regarding building operations and maintenance.
- Maintain Safeguarding requirements for a "safe church" environment.
- Produce and manage an annual budget for Facilities to serve the needs of SMAA.
Requirements:
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life safety/fire protection systems.
- Be proficient in the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) used at SMAA.
- Have the skills necessary for employee/contractor supervision, budget and expenditure responsibility, and productive relationships with clergy, staff, employees, volunteers, and parishioners.
- Be highly organized and comfortable with the Microsoft productivity suite and other software applications used by the church.
- Be non-anxious in a fast-paced, complex large church system.
