Position Overview:

The role requires a highly skilled individual with robust technical and project management expertise in commercial light water reactor (LWR) fuel. The candidate should possess knowledge of advanced fuel concepts, including coated cladding, doped fuel, and enhanced burnup and enrichment limits applicable to existing LWRs (ATF/HBU/HE).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and leading industry meetings, encompassing large webcasts and in-person gatherings, while delivering presentations at utility and member forums. This necessitates exceptional presentation capabilities and a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, along with problem identification and solution development.
  • Collaborating with utilities, industry organizations (NEI, INPO), and governmental bodies (DOE, National Laboratories, regulators, and international research entities) to facilitate joint efforts and clarify research requirements.
  • Overseeing a team of highly technical professionals.
  • Staying informed about industry developments and current challenges, such as fuel cladding integrity during operations, anticipated operational occurrences (AOOs), and design basis accidents (DBAs).
  • Providing leadership in the technical business development of problem-solving initiatives from proposal through execution and technology transfer.
  • Traveling within the U.S. and internationally to support the aforementioned tasks and facilitate technology transfer with utilities.
Qualifications:
  • A strong technical foundation demonstrated through experience in nuclear fuel operation, reliability, and performance.
  • Knowledge of current technical issues and regulatory challenges related to fuel operation.
  • Familiarity with accident-tolerant fuel concepts and technical matters associated with high burnup, power uprates, and cycle length extension.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Experience in people management and strong interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive experience in research and development project management, showcasing advanced skills in research, project oversight, and technology transfer.
  • Proven track record in managing research activities.
  • Experience in successful project management, including proposal preparation and marketing efforts.
  • Accountable for project planning, budgeting, deliverables, and overall project success.
  • Capable of creating project scopes and managing complex initiatives, including promoting concepts with stakeholders.
  • Experience in presenting project outcomes to stakeholders and advisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with members and other stakeholders.
  • Exhibits a high level of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for specialized technical objectives.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, diligence, and attention to detail, with an aptitude for executing responsible technical assignments.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Requires minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience is required.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $157,700 USD to $182,700 USD annually. This range is an estimate, and actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and geographic location.

Benefits:
This role is eligible for participation in EPRI's annual incentive program, with amounts varying based on plan terms. Additionally, the position includes access to EPRI's standard employee benefit programs, which currently encompass medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD, paid family leave, life and accident insurance, and paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
