Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Field Materials Testing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring public safety by conducting field materials testing and inspections on construction sites. You will work closely with our seasoned Project Managers to verify that construction activities are being performed in accordance with project plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete
- Observe and verify approved materials and construction applications in accordance with project documents
- Prepare detailed and complete field reports with test results and inspections/observations
- Perform basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provide recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues
- Other duties as assigned
- 12+ months of relevant experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Some construction experience is required; prior experience in field testing is preferred
- Currently holds and maintains minimum certifications in Level 1 Concrete Field (ACI/DOT/WACEL), Level 1 Soil Field (WACEL/DOT), and WACEL Foundations or ICC Building Inspector
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field, and perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to continuously stand and walk throughout the day
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
- Ability to occasionally bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, and pull
- Ability to work in environments containing dust and fumes
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals
- Excellent attention to details
- Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites; must have a valid driver's license with a good-standing driving record
- Must be willing to participate in and pass Froehling & Robertson's pre-employment screening, including a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record
