Job Title: Consumer ABS Analyst

Job Overview

As a Consumer ABS Analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying and executing attractive risk-adjusted investments in the consumer asset-backed securities market. You will work closely with our team to originate, structure, and execute private asset-backed transactions across various formats, including forward flow transactions, whole loan and portfolio purchases, warehouse financing, and securitizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Originate and structure private asset-backed transactions across various formats
  • Facilitate relationships with target originators and intermediaries to provide a consistent pipeline of suitable investment opportunities
  • Perform due diligence, including sector and market research, onsite evaluation, analytical risk-based modeling, and asset valuation work
  • Manage the rating agency process and dialogue to obtain rating agency assessments
  • Negotiate business terms and oversee transaction documentation
  • Underwrite investments in public securitized markets across the capital structure by performing comprehensive credit analysis
  • Prepare investment memos and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Maintain existing counterparty relationships and collaborate with clients and partners to identify capital needs and provide customized capital solutions
  • Conduct surveillance and monitor existing exposures and credit performance, spearhead modifications where applicable, and contribute to refining risk management and oversight tools
  • Expand Barings' depth of coverage and provide thought leadership for consumer assets via periodic written and verbal communication
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in mathematics, computer science, finance, economics, or a related field; advanced degree and professional designations preferred
  • 5+ years of structured finance experience, including a track record of successful deal execution
  • Strong network of contacts across the structured finance ecosystem
  • Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and strong work ethic
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to target messaging across multiple levels of a diverse organization
  • Experience with various analytical platforms and programming languages a plus
