Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Lead Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Springfield Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily programs that promote the growth and well-being of children, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure coordination of all classrooms and programming, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor staff members, including volunteers, substitutes, and assistant teachers, to ensure high-quality care and education.
  • Maintain open and positive communication with parents, including individual and group meetings, to ensure their involvement in their child's education.
  • Stay up-to-date with new ideas and training opportunities to enhance creativity, understanding of child growth and development, and provide high-quality programming.
  • Prepare and maintain all required records and reports, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
  • Plan daily curriculum with teachers, ensuring compliance with state and national requirements.
  • Participate in children's activities, including classroom activities, field trips, outdoor play, and special events, promoting a sense of community and inclusivity.
  • Provide enriched educational opportunities for children by drawing on community resources and partnerships.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings, completing required trainings and professional development hours.
Qualifications
  • Meet EEC Regulation 7.9 c (3) for Lead Teacher Certification.
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in EEC or a related field for full-time positions, or an Associate's Degree for part-time or substitute positions.
  • Have or be willing to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR training.
  • Comply with health requirements for staff, adhering to EEC regulation and NAEYC standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, exhibiting core YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Ability to learn, operate, and navigate various web-based platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong influencing ability, combined with a balance of analytical and pragmatic approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, remaining professional and exhibiting an upbeat attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under time constraints, and maintain attention to detail.
