Department/Location: Diocese of Tucson Catholic Cemeteries
Primary Function: Under the supervision of the business manager or designated manager, the role is accountable for delivering clerical and administrative assistance while executing various essential functions within a Cemetery. The employee is expected to embody the principles of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching in both professional and personal conduct, adhering to the call of faith.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and promote the distinctive Catholic Mission of the Diocese by communicating, acting, and guiding in alignment with the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Gospel values through active participation in a faith community and an openness to personal spiritual growth; aim to exemplify the teachings of Jesus through behavior and demeanor.
  • Support the mission of the Catholic Cemetery through dedicated service.
  • Collaborate positively and professionally with all staff and those served.
  • Assist with Human Resources and Payroll functions, ensuring adherence to policies and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Provide fundamental accounting assistance, including invoice coding, data entry, and processing customer payments.
  • Develop and manage documents and files that fulfill the administrative requirements of cemetery operations.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding all transactions and information related to cemetery records.
  • Record, monitor, and confirm the resolution of escalated customer service inquiries.
  • Organize meetings as needed; aid in the planning and execution of Cemetery Community events.
  • Procure office and kitchen supplies as necessary.
  • Engage in special events hosted at the cemetery, such as Memorial Day Mass and All Souls Day Mass, with responsibilities assigned by management prior to the event.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by Management.
Physical / Mental Requirements: The position necessitates coordination and manual dexterity, along with normal cognitive and visual capabilities; ability to lift as required in a standard office setting. May involve outdoor activities.
Required Activities: Walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, communicating, listening, carrying, and typing. Must be able to withstand exposure to varying temperatures during tasks on cemetery grounds.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional follow-up skills are crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality regarding records and services.
  • Project management capabilities and the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Professional demeanor, appearance, and attire are required.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience encompassing administrative duties, tracking, basic bookkeeping, and customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with various management software platforms is advantageous.
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Bilingual (Spanish, English) preferred.
