Senior Operations Director for Medical Simulation

This role at Mass General Brigham oversees the day-to-day operations of the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation, including management of Simulation Specialists and support personnel.
Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee Simulation Specialists to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.
- Perform simulation specialist duties as needed, determined by staffing and course volume.
- Work with STRATUS and PAC Sim staff to scope out potential internal and external courses, including logistics, supplies, and staff coverage requirements.
- Lead preparations for and execution of all simulation programs, coordinating with administrative personnel, faculty, and other contributors.
- Manage STRATUS Center and PAC Sim assets, inventory, and maintenance files.
- Ensure the physical plant, including simulators and equipment, is neat, orderly, and in good working condition.
- Develop and maintain technical proficiency with simulation platforms and associated equipment.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and troubleshoot equipment and systems problems.
- Participate in external simulation contracts and consulting with potential travel, including operational system implementation strategies.
Administrative
- Lead the STRATUS Leadership Team for strategic and operational planning.
- Hire and supervise Simulation Specialists, including orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate on the development and maintenance of the STRATUS learning management system.
- Lead weekly Operations Team meetings and oversee the Center Outlook calendar.
- Assist in updating policies and procedures manuals.
- Review and maintain Operations training policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary timekeeper and approver for Operations Team members.
- Collaborate on SSH and ACS re-accreditation applications.
- Lead tours of the STRATUS Center for visitors.
- Manage facility maintenance and assist with construction projects.
- Support research efforts, including purchasing and operational support.
Education
- Support and/or teach simulation operations-based educational programs.
- Assist with faculty orientation on simulation program development.
Financial
- Serve as the primary point person for simulation supply ordering.
- Assist in monitoring and tracking simulation purchases and expenses.
- Identify key stakeholders for capital purchases.
- Lead and advise on in-kind donation request initiatives to offset operational costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- At least three (3) years of management and/or clinical operations experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and general office procedures.
- Three (3) years' experience in simulation center operations.
- Ability to communicate, negotiate, and problem solve effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with diverse groups.
- Fastidious attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities to make effective decisions.
- Capacity to maintain a composed demeanor under stressful conditions.
- Ability to foster a team environment and work independently.
- Basic financial/accounting skills.
- Robust independent judgment skills to multi-task, organize work, and set priorities.
- Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Microsoft Office, and site-specific software.
Salary
The estimated salary for this role is $95,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
