Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including but not limited to:
  • Personal hygiene (supporting bathroom use, bathing, grooming)
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritional support (meal preparation and feeding)
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Shaving assistance
  • Prepare meals and snacks as per dietary guidelines.
  • Execute patient-specific tasks as instructed by nursing staff.

Additional Duties May Include:

  • Assisting with ostomy appliance changes
  • Dressing reinforcement
  • Supporting prescribed range of motion exercises
  • Preparing special diets
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs
  • Application of external catheters
  • Conducting light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, and laundry.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of six months experience as a Personal Care Assistant in a healthcare setting.
  • Completion of a Competency Evaluation meeting state licensing requirements for home health agencies.
  • Current CPR certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English as required for the role.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle for work-related duties.
  • Completion of 75 hours of technical training, covering:
  • Vital sign monitoring
  • Blood glucose level checks
  • Urine testing for sugar and acetone levels
