Audiology Specialist

The Audiologist plays a vital role in diagnosing and providing aural rehabilitative services to patients with hearing loss. This position requires administering a wide range of tests to determine hearing levels and loss, and prescribing the use of hearing aids and/or special training. The Audiologist will work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate audiometric results and assist in the selection and use of suitable hearing aids and prescribing appropriate treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient hearing test assessments, analyze results, and recommend treatment and product options.
- Deliver clinically appropriate evaluation, therapy, and aural rehabilitative services to patients with hearing and balance problems.
- Counsel patients, document treatment plans, and work with physicians on treatment plans.
- Develop recommendations for patient follow-up and provide clinically appropriate neural telemetry testing in the operating room.
- Fits and dispenses hearing aids or other equipment as required.
- Performs daily equipment biological calibrations, maintains equipment, and initiates requests for repair.
- Keeps accurate and comprehensive records in patient charts and department-based files.
- Facilitates the organization's compliance with JCAHO, CARF, ASHA, OSHA, and ADA guidelines.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider American Heart Association certification.
- Audiology certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Audiology licensure from the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Minimum 0-6 months of experience as a certified Audiologist.
- Desired: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology bestowed by ASHA.
