Homeless Services Coordinator

The Shelter Advocate assumes responsibility for the provision of services to homeless victims of domestic violence and generally homeless individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee shelter operations, including daily maintenance, meals, and coordination of activities for both women and children.
- Provide resource information and referral to shelter clients.
- Develop daily lesson plans.
- Enforce shelter rules and regulations, providing a stabilizing influence in family stress situations.
- Receive after-hour calls for shelter placement of domestic violence victims.
- Manage and distribute inventory of donated household and personal items.
- Provide child care as needed.
- Transport clients as required.
- Complete reports as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- Two years of relevant experience as an advocate, case manager, or similar position in a residential or crisis intervention setting involving services for domestic abuse survivors, traumatized populations, or related experience.
- Training and experience providing the skills, language, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Travel and attend out-of-area meetings and conferences as required.
- Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular business hours.
- Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements, including:
- Criminal Record Clearance.
- Reliable, insured transportation and a valid California Driver License.
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
- Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
