A renowned global organization specializing in the design, production, and maintenance of industrial and marine steam generation systems is seeking a SERVICE ENGINEER in the Farmington Hills area.
POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves the upkeep and repair of stationary steam boilers and associated equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment issues, disassembling and reassembling components, and calibrating systems to meet operational standards. Additionally, the position entails promoting preventive maintenance programs and selling service parts and chemicals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving and reviewing work orders, blueprints, or instructions from supervisors.
- Ensuring that all necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available for service tasks.
- Identifying equipment malfunctions through customer interviews and utilizing diagnostic tools.
- Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling units as necessary.
- Unpacking and assembling new units according to established specifications.
- Providing training to customer personnel on equipment operation.
- Cleaning boilers and auxiliary equipment, as well as inspecting and repairing boiler fittings and auxiliary machinery.
- Replacing damaged components and performing necessary repairs on high-pressure piping.
- Conducting water pressure tests to locate leaks within systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined above. The following qualifications are required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training is preferred.
- A minimum of six years in a related field or three years with technical training.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information clearly.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Candidates should possess strong mathematical skills for calculations related to discounts, proportions, and geometry. Additionally, the ability to apply common sense to solve problems is essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform tasks that involve standing, walking, and kneeling. The role may also involve driving for extended periods and occasional overnight travel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees will work in environments that may include exposure to mechanical parts, wet conditions, and varying weather. Safety precautions are essential, as the role may involve noise and potential exposure to chemicals.
