Cyber Engineer Job Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a skilled Cyber Engineer to join a long-term federal program, supporting the Defense Intelligence Agency to manage and maintain DoD Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS). This role is fully onsite, requiring 5 days on site weekly, in either College Park Maryland, Reston Virginia, or Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure network architectures to protect against advanced cyber threats.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with security standards and policies.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining DoD ACAS with privileged and elevated access.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux environments, including server management and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks (STIGs, SCAP).
  • Education and experience: HS diploma or GED with 7+ years, Associate's degree with 5+ years, Bachelor's degree with 3+ years, or Master's degree with 1+ year in cyber engineering projects.
  • DoD M IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or CND).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud security, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of big data analytics, machine learning, and anomaly detection.
  • Skilled with Zero-Trust Architecture and DevSecOps principles.
  • Familiar with Gigamon, Ansible, Encase, and VMWare tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD, IaC and CaC, ITIL, and IT Service Management.
