Endpoint Security Specialist, Cyber Risk Management

As a prominent institution, we are dedicated to fostering a community that values academic excellence, global perspectives, and social responsibility. Our team is composed of exceptional individuals committed to intellectual exploration and making a meaningful impact.

Position Overview

The Endpoint Security Specialist plays a crucial role within the cybersecurity operations team, engaging in a hands-on capacity that necessitates a robust understanding of information security and systems management, alongside a grasp of business and governance frameworks.

This role entails the assessment and compliance of institutional endpoints, leveraging knowledge of applications, operating systems, networking, cloud environments, and fundamental attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). The specialist is expected to maintain a rigorous approach to staying informed about technological advancements while also retaining familiarity with legacy systems and applications.

The Endpoint Security Specialist recognizes that both current and legacy systems may harbor vulnerabilities that could be exploited by external threat actors, potentially leading to security breaches. Given that endpoint security and risk exposure span all technical systems within the organization, responsibilities include identifying user assets and vulnerabilities, reporting findings, remediation efforts, and ongoing evaluations. Collaboration with team members for remediation and validation, as well as contributing to the broader cybersecurity strategy, is essential.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Director of Cybersecurity Operations, the Endpoint Security Specialist will coordinate with various divisions and stakeholders on issues related to cyber threats, risks, remediation strategies, and preventive measures. • Commitment to integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism
  • Proven track record of acting with integrity, taking pride in work, being curious and adaptable, and communicating effectively
  • Ability to secure technical and business support to foster collaborative efforts aimed at reducing attack surfaces

Position Requirements
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as PCI, HIPAA, GLBA, NIST, or ISO
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell

  • Proven ability to investigate, manage, and track incidents
  • Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, threat intelligence platforms, and SOAR solutions for incident management and remediation workflows

Experience
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in information security administration, vulnerability management, or security operations
  • Proficiency with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable/Nessus, Qualys, Tanium, and open-source solutions
  • Experience in stabilizing systems to meet minimal application requirements and implementing least privilege principles
  • Experience conducting organization-wide vulnerability assessments and remediation processes
