Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively to support three distinct Research groups focused on Microbiology R&D: Skin/Hair Care, General Microbiology, and Oral Care Microbiology.
  • Conduct microbiological efficacy testing of cleaning products by executing client protocols, utilizing both standard practices and client-specific methodologies.
  • Employ microbiological techniques including dilution, plating, colony counting, and culturing across various media and preparations.
  • Perform advanced microbiological testing such as running Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs), growth curves, and physiological assays for diverse organisms.
  • Identify organisms through standard methods (gram staining) and advanced techniques such as mass spectrometry (MSID).
  • Assist in the development of new methods by testing, validating, and optimizing client-specific protocols.
  • Complete daily tasks and tests, including test preparation, data collection, and input into the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
  • Address troubleshooting needs and instrumentation issues by escalating them to the client.
  • Ensure timely completion of lab work as per client-defined timelines.
  • Record data accurately and promptly in the Electronic Lab Notebook system.
  • Maintain laboratory conditions by performing deep cleans, ordering media, preparing stock solutions, and organizing lab reagents.
  • Conduct daily calibrations of instruments as required, logging entries and reporting any out-of-specification instrumentation to the client sponsor.
  • Adhere to safe waste disposal practices in compliance with site regulations and waste vendor requirements.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology preferred; related disciplines will be considered.
  • Experience in a BSL-2 Microbiology laboratory, with a background in culturing bacterial, yeast, and fungal isolates.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic techniques.
  • Open communication regarding the status of samples, experiments, and instrumentation with team members and clients.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills, capable of coordinating efforts across three supporting groups.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities as laboratory capabilities evolve.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently in the laboratory environment.
  • Willingness to collaborate with Bureau Veritas colleagues or client personnel in the lab.
  • Familiarity with basic computer software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
