Position Summary

The Radiology Technician executes the responsibilities of a Radiology Technologist at a proficient level, operating with minimal supervision on technical aspects, and takes charge of assigned areas or procedures as instructed by the Practice Manager.

Qualifications:Completion of a two (2) year accredited program in X-Ray Technology. Additional college coursework is preferred but not mandatory.

Licensure:Must hold current registration from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT). Licensing by the relevant state health department is required.

Certifications:Completion of BCLS certification is required by the end of orientation; maintenance of current BCLS certification is mandatory.

Experience:Previous experience is preferred but not essential. Must maintain a minimum of 24 continuing education points every two (2) years as mandated by the ARRT in Radiology.

Reporting Structure:Reports to the Practice Manager, under the guidance of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or LPN responsible for patient care management.

Physical Requirements:Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, navigate the facility, and travel to other locations within the service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Work involves using various physical motions in daily activities; subject to exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry the risk of infectious disease.


Work involves repetitive motions:
substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard.

Work requires the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound.

Work necessitates close visual acuity and the ability to adjust vision to bring objects into sharp focus, i.e., shifting gaze from a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.
Must be able to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.

Must be able to adhere to assigned schedules with the understanding that changes may be implemented according to the needs of the organization for off days, shifts, or weekends.


Mental Requirements:Must exhibit strong mental faculties/assessment and decision-making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication skills to convey and receive information in person and by telephone. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Must maintain emotional stability conducive to managing high-stress levels. Must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in complex situations is essential. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships throughout the organization and with other entities.

Special Requirements:Must possess excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor. Must have proficient knowledge and ability to utilize a computer (keyboard proficiency required) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook, and Word.


Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply relevant professional skills to a diverse patient population.
